Being a husband doesn’t require much effort but being a good one has to do with following good principles and being disciplined in how you manage your family. Here are simple and practical ways to do.
1. Love yourself and respect your body. Understand that you cannot give what you don’t have. If you have love for yourself then it won’t be difficult to love your wife. Your body belongs to your wife alone!
2. Love your wife and make her needs your first priority (Ephesians 5:25). Treat her like a queen and put her needs before yours.
3. Protect your wife. A true gentleman will neither hit nor instill fear in his wife. The reason you are stronger than her is to protect and not to abuse her.

4. Work hard and provide for your family. The word father means source, your family looks up to you as their source of prosperity.
5. Have integrity. Don’t watch porno, make it a habit that the only naked woman you will see is your wife. Remember God is watching everything you do so do all you can to please him.
6. Be transparent. You must have nothing to hide to your wife, by this you earn her trust. The strength of any relationship is measured by the level of trust and commitment.
7. Be available. Give your wife your undivided attention. Gifts cannot replace your presence, so be there and break the habit of making excuses always. Don’t justify your unavailability.
8. Be patient. Your level of maturity is seen by how patient you are with your wife and kids. Be patient enough to listen when your wife is talking.
9. Be thankful even for the small things. Compliment your wife as much as possible. Be thankful for her efforts and sacrifices, when you do this you will motive her to do even more.
10. Apologize when wrong. Before you show her you are sorry, start by saying, “I am sorry”. Real men are neither afraid nor arrogant to say sorry.
11. Be a good father. Lead your family in the ways of God and always set a good example by maintaining a lifestyle of self-control. Be faithful to your wife always.
