Overcoming Witchcraft - A Must Read!

Did you know that witchcraft can be wrongly discerned as God’s power at work? This article serves to equip the reader with knowledge and power to overcome this deceptive spirit of witchcraft.

What is witchcraft? Witchcraft is counterfeit spiritual authority or the use of demonic power to influence others.

You must understand that not all spiritual power is God's miraculous power because the devil can come as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). The reason why the devil is able to deceive many is that he does not come as an enemy but a friend.

Overcoming Witchcraft

There is a popular saying that goes, ‘The person who comes to destroy you does not come with a sword but a smile’. In Acts 8 the Word tells us that when Simon Magus practiced sorcery the people of Samaria were deceived into thinking that they were seeing a great move of God. The sorcerer was then regarded as a man of God in Samaria. Could it be possible that even the same is happening today?


Signs of witchcraft

1. Trying to buy God's gifts with money. Some congregants manipulate their pastors or even the whole church because they have more money. Some are deceived into thinking that money can replace spiritual gifts.

2. Rebellion. It is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23), in fact rebellion is the foundation of witchcraft. Desiring to control or influence others without the Holy Spirit leads to witchcraft. The main reason for rebellion is pride.

3. Stubbornness. This is like a brother to witchcraft. When one is stubborn it means they are desiring to take the place of God because stubbornness is in fact idolatry. There are people who worship themselves and do not listen to anyone.

4. Bitterness. Did you know that bitterness and envy both lead to witchcraft? The one affected by this has a deep desire for revenge embedded in them and the result is they end up seeking to manipulate others so that they can feed they anger by using others to become like them.

5. Power without submitting to authority. It is very dangerous to have people submit to you when you do not submit to anyone. You will end up abusing them because you are not accountable to anyone. Understand that absolute power absolutely corrupts.

How to overcome
1. Biblical submission to spiritual authority. Before you can resist any demon, make sure you are submitted to God (James 4:7).

2. Genuine repentance from pride. Be accountable to someone and refuse to Mr/s I know it all.

3. Keep your heart pure and work with the right motives (Proverbs 4:23).

4. Maintain a lifestyle of prayer and meditating on the word

5. Seek counsel from an anointed servant of God.
