8 Ways To Discern A Genuine Man Of God.

If there is good, then bad is also there and on that same token if there are genuine servants of God then there are also fake ministers of the word. This article serves to shade light on how best you can discern a true servant of God.

1. Fruit (Matthew 7:17-19). A tree is known by its fruit and a genuine man of God is not seen by the gift of the Spirit only but by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Every gift of Spirit should have its foundation on the fruit of the Spirit.

2. Love. The only way you can tell a true disciple of Jesus Christ our Lord is by the love he has for people (1 John 2:9, John 13:35). The Bible says we must not love the world but one another (1 John 2:15-17).

3. Sacrifice. Genuine servants of God are seen by their sacrifice for the Kingdom of God (Matthew 10:38). A true shepherd will sacrifice for his flock (John 10).

4. Integrity. True pastors practice what they preach because the sermon preached with their lives will always be more powerful than the one from the lips.

5. Submission. Men of authority are seen by their willingness to submit to authority. Even Apostle Paul submitted to the church leaders at the church at Jerusalem according to the book of Acts.

6. Humility. Humility is of the Father but pride is of the devil so servants of God have the character of Christ who is the humblest person to ever walk on earth (Philippians 2)

7. Focus. The main calling of any servant of God is to point people to Christ and not to himself. Genuine servants of God lower themselves so that Christ may be exalted (John 3:30).

8. Discipline. A servant of God must have only one spouse (Genesis 2:24). Marriage is holy before the Lord and acts as a foundation to the work of ministry.
