Debt can be a stumbling block to both hope and potential. You are confident before you see the one you owe money, Proverbs 22:7 tells us that the borrower is servant to the lender. You must overcome debt now and here is how.
1. Own up. The first step in solving any problem is admitting that there is one.
2. Discover the root. You have to find out what made you to be in debt in the first place. For many the reason why they are in debt is greed and lack of patience in that they could not wait until they had enough money to buy something.
3. Control your money and do not let it control you. Money is a great servant but a very bad master.

4. Sell your extras. If you have 2 cars sell one and pay of your debts. This way is better than being sued and have the messenger of court auction it for you because it will be sold at a far lesser price.
5. Budget realistically. Come up with a budget and stick to it. Avoid impulsive buying.
6. Communicate with your debtors. Cowards run away from the problem and pretend it is not there but people of integrity fight until they win. Contact your debtors in humility and come up with a payment plan.
7. Give in order to attract a harvest. Luke 6:38 tells us that when you give you attract a harvest of more than you have given. Giving attracts supernatural help. The widow in 1 Kings 17:10-16 gave away her only meal and God blessed her with much. You cannot expect to harvest unless you have put seed into the ground.
8. Increase your flow of income. You can only do this by spending less and investing more. Be disciplined not buy anything on credit from now. If you do not have money to buy it now it means you cannot afford it. Buy it later when you have the cash in hand.
9. Do not borrow to pay a debt. You cannot fight fire with fire. Do not borrow from John in order to give Jack because rather than solve the problem you are entertaining it and making it a part of you.
10. Pray for provision and get counsel from your pastor. When the widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7 got counselling from the Prophet Elisha, the result was that God blessed her with a cooking oil company. Believe in God and you will be established, believe in his servants and you will prosper (2 Chronicles 20:20)
